POUTINE

POUTINE, IT’S EVERYTHING

YOU’VE DREAMED OF.

The Allen Street Poutine Company, a new restaurant in Buffalo, N.Y., brings the flavourful awesomeness of a Canadian staple to the Allentown area. They wanted to create a bold experience and an aggressive brand that stood out from the surrounding eateries.

THE EXPERIENCE

WHAT WOULD YOU

DO FOR POUTINE?

The goal was to give Allen Street Poutine a local, rustic look, so the restaurant’s interior and its identity were developed with an urban philosophy. To bring an inner city atmosphere to the interior, we used wood textures, black metal, white subway tiles, and graffiti. To take it to another level, we decided the restaurant needed a main attraction, so we commissioned a large broadway-style sign people instantly fell in love with.

THE IDENTITY

OLD MEETS NEW,

WITH AN ATTITUDE OF COURSE.

While creating the logo and identity, I chose to use a minimal colour palette combined with kraft paper for the menus and marketing materials. Allentown is known for its community of artists and embracing bohemian and hipster culture, so after tons of research, the primary logo was designed in a way that pays respect to the Allentown Historic District and the heritage that comes with it. By using weathered fonts and various textures throughout the assets, I was able to utilize the paper’s qualities to really give it that extra grit.

IT LOOKS JUST LIKE

IT TASTES. DELICIOUS.

To bring Allen Street to life on the web, I put the food front and centre using bold imagery and simple masonry. To leverage the power of social media, I came up with the idea to use a custom hashtag to encourage patrons to post and share under a single phrase – #poutineco.

THIS ISN’T YOUR MOMS POUTINE.

IT'S BETTER.

Allen Street Poutine brings an aggressive, in-your-face brand to the Allentown area and its surrounding districts. It has been featured in local dining magazines and with lineups stretching around the block, it has become a top-shelf place to eat within Buffalo.
